The National Citizen Party (NCP) has completed the process of forming convening committees in 276 of the country’s 500 upazilas and plans to complete the process in the remaining upazilas within the next 15 days, by October 15.
NCP chief organiser for the northern region Sarjis Alam disclosed the information in a post on his verified Facebook account on Wednesday night (September 30). The party later sent the contents of the post to the media in a statement.
According to the statement, as of September 30, convening committees had been formed in 276 of the country’s 500 upazilas. Outside the two Dhaka metropolitan areas, the party has also completed the process in 34 of the 61 police station areas under 11 other metropolitan cities.
The NCP said it aims to have convening committees in all 500 upazilas by October 15.
The party is also working to form convening committees in all 330 municipalities by October 30 and in 4,600 unions by November 30.
