Actor Imran Khan detained during Mumbai protest

Bollywood actor Imran Khan was detained by Mumbai Police on Saturday during a protest in support of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) demonstration in New Delhi.

The actor was among more than 400 protesters detained across Mumbai while demonstrating against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The protesters demanded his resignation over alleged irregularities in voter-list revisions.

Police took action to prevent unauthorised gatherings at August Kranti Maidan and other locations across the city.

Authorities said the protest venue was not authorised for such a gathering.

The CJP had called for a demonstration in Delhi, accusing the Election Commission of irregularities in electoral roll revisions.
