BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that allies of the ousted government are involved in sabotage and conspiracies to destabilise the country and put pressure on the government elected by popular vote.

He urged the people to remain alert to such activities.

Rizvi made the remarks as the chief guest at an event in Gazirtek, Charbhadrasan upazila of Faridpur, around 11am on Wednesday (October 14).

The programme was organised to hand over the keys to a house built for Md Lokai Biswas on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, as well as to distribute medical assistance and materials to support employment.

Rizvi alleged that allies of the ousted government were operating from India and plotting against Bangladesh. Referring to the recent public humiliation of Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus abroad, he said people should consider the implications of such incidents for the country’s image.

He said the government was gradually implementing various programmes, including family cards and farmer cards, in line with its pre-election pledges.

According to Rizvi, financial assistance of Tk 2,500 a month could provide some relief to disadvantaged people in meeting food and other daily expenses.

He also accused leaders and activists of the previous government of siphoning off money looted from banks and transferring it abroad to finance luxurious lifestyles.

He claimed that they continued conspiring against Bangladesh despite staying overseas.
