US Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is planning to move out of her Washington, DC, home after an FBI search, saying the property has become the focus of unwanted attention and left her feeling unsafe.

According to ABC News, the FBI searched the home of the Minnesota Democrat last week as part of a criminal investigation into alleged immigration document fraud involving members of her family.

Several of her relatives have also received subpoenas in connection with the investigation.

Omar, who was born in Somalia and later became a US citizen, denied the allegations during her first interview since the search, given to MS NOW on Wednesday.

“I am confident that I have done nothing wrong,” she said.

For years, supporters of former US President Donald Trump and some conservative commentators have alleged that Omar committed immigration fraud by marrying her brother and misrepresenting her immigration history. Omar has repeatedly denied the allegations, and they have not been substantiated.

Omar described the FBI search as politically motivated, saying she believed it was intended to satisfy Trump supporters who had long called for action against her.

Speaking to MS NOW host Chris Hayes, she said there had been indications that action would be taken against her. She suggested the authorities wanted to demonstrate that they had raided her home after she was targeted.

In a social media post following the search, Omar also accused the Trump administration of using federal law enforcement agencies to suppress political opponents.

She wrote that Trump had targeted her for the past decade with baseless allegations and disinformation, describing the search as the latest step in what she called a campaign of political intimidation. She added that the efforts would not silence her.
