A local Jubo Dal leader was allegedly stabbed to death in an attack over a longstanding personal feud in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore on Monday.

The victim, Rubel Hossain, 38, was the joint general secretary of Bandabila Union Jubo Dal and a resident of Telidhanyapura village under Bandabila Union.

According to police and local residents, the attack took place near a weighing scale in front of the Khajura filling station. The alleged attacker, identified as Rabbi, son of Abdur Rob of the same area, reportedly assaulted Rubel with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple injuries.

Locals rushed the critically injured Rubel to Jessore General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Police said the accused is the brother-in-law of Rubel’s younger sister.

The victim’s brother, Rajib Hossain, alleged that Rabbi attacked Rubel repeatedly on the chest, back, and face with a sharp weapon over a previous dispute.

Dr. Kismat Ara, medical officer at the emergency department of Jessore General Hospital, said Rubel had multiple sharp-force injuries and likely died from excessive bleeding.

Bagharpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shah Jalal Alam said police are investigating the motive behind the killing and have launched an operation to arrest the accused. Multiple police teams are working on the case, he added.
