Engineering universities vital for skilled workforce: President

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said engineering and technology universities have a crucial role to play in developing skilled, innovative and technology-oriented human resources capable of meeting the challenges of the modern world.

He made the remarks on Wednesday during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), led by its Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr SM Abdur Razzaq.

President’s Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam briefed reporters on the meeting.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the president about RUET’s academic activities, research, infrastructure development and overall academic progress.

The president said engineering and technology universities were vital to the country’s technological and economic development.

He stressed the need to strengthen RUET’s capacity to improve the quality of its education and research and bring them up to international standards.

Relevant secretaries from the President’s Office were present at the meeting.
