India’s men’s cricket team will enter the upcoming international season with a new-look support staff after assistant coach Ryan Ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip parted ways with the team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said the contracts of both coaches had ended after India’s recent tour of the United Kingdom and the board decided not to extend their agreements.

“The BCCI continued with the duo till the end of India’s tour of the United Kingdom. However, the BCCI is not giving them any extension,” Saikia told PTI. “There is no question of accepting resignation as the contract has ended.”

The BCCI is already in discussions with potential candidates for the fielding coach position and expects to finalise an appointment soon.

“We are currently in talks with two to three names and expect to finalise the details within a day or two. India will have a new fielding coach for the tour of Sri Lanka in August,” Saikia added.

Ten Doeschate joined India’s coaching setup following the team’s triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and played an important role in the support staff over the past two years.

The former Netherlands international was part of India’s successful campaigns that saw the team win both the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy in 2025. Following his departure from the national team setup, Ten Doeschate has taken up a role as Head of Cricket Strategy with Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

Fielding coach T Dilip had a much longer association with the Indian team, serving for nearly five years. He worked under both former head coach Rahul Dravid and current head coach Gautam Gambhir, helping develop India’s standards in fitness and fielding.

The changes come at a crucial time for the Indian team, which faces a packed international schedule. After winning the three-match T20 International series against Zimbabwe, India’s next challenge will be a two-match ICC World Test Championship series against Sri Lanka, beginning on August 15 in Galle.

India are currently placed fifth in the World Test Championship standings and will be aiming to collect valuable points in their bid to qualify for next year’s final at The Oval.

The BCCI’s decision to restructure the support staff signals a fresh phase for the team as it prepares for a demanding period across all formats of international cricket. With several major assignments ahead, including Test, ODI and T20 campaigns, the board is expected to complete the coaching appointments quickly to ensure continuity within the squad.
