SM Jahangir Hossain, a BNP lawmaker representing the Dhaka-18 constituency, was admitted to hospital on Friday after sustaining a serious wrist injury while playing in a friendly football match.
According to a statement issued by his political secretary, Monirul Islam Sohag, the MP was injured during a Brazil-Argentina friendly football match in the Uttara area. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors began emergency surgery.
The statement said Jahangir Hossain is receiving treatment under the close supervision of specialist physicians.
Supporters, party activists and local residents have been requested not to crowd the hospital, as excessive visitors could disrupt medical treatment for the MP and other patients.
The appeal was posted on the MP’s official Facebook page by his political secretary on Friday night.
Seeking prayers for the MP’s speedy and full recovery, Monirul Islam Sohag said doctors are providing the highest level of care and remain optimistic that the surgery will be successful.
