Barcelona return to top after second straight win

Barcelona returned to the top of La Liga after securing their second consecutive victory, beating Athletic Club 2-0 at Camp Nou on Thursday.

Raphinha opened the scoring in the 37th minute after being set up by Pedri, while Fermín López sealed the win in the 82nd minute following a defensive error by Aymeric Laporte.

The victory gave Barcelona six points from their opening two matches, putting them level on points with the other leading sides but ahead on goal difference.

The Catalan giants had begun their title defence with a 5-0 win over Elche.
