Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by four wickets to qualify for the semifinals of the Women’s Asia Cup as Group B champions.
Bangladesh, batting first after losing the toss, managed 114 for eight in their 20 overs. Sobhana Mostary top-scored with 34, while Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Chamudi Praboda took three wickets for 21 runs.
Chasing 115, Sri Lanka struggled early and were reduced to 44 for five after 9.3 overs. Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter claimed three wickets for 21 runs and kept her side in control.
However, Harshitha Samarawickrama turned the match around with an unbeaten 48 off 37 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Her composed innings guided Sri Lanka to 115 for six in 19.2 overs.
With their third consecutive win, Sri Lanka finished the group stage with six points and secured top spot in Group B.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, remain on two points and must beat the United Arab Emirates in their final group match to strengthen their chances of reaching the semifinals.
