The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an internal disciplinary inquiry amid growing turmoil surrounding the national team’s ongoing England tour.
The PCB confirmed on Monday that it was reviewing matters related to the discipline and conduct of players, but did not disclose specific allegations or name those under investigation. The inquiry is being conducted under the board’s regulations.
The development comes after Pakistan suffered heavy defeats in the first two Tests against England, prompting the PCB to send seven players home and replace red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed with Mike Hesson on an interim basis.
Reports have linked the inquiry to senior players including Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan, whose phones were reportedly taken into PCB custody.
However, the board has not confirmed those reports and has warned against treating unverified claims as fact.
Former Pakistan players have criticised the PCB’s handling of the crisis, with concerns growing over the team’s instability and lack of long-term planning.
Pakistan trail England 2-0 in the three-match Test series, with the final Test scheduled to begin at Edgbaston on September 9.
