Bangladesh pacer Hasan Mahmud has been nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award for August following his outstanding performance in Bangladesh’s historic Test victory over Australia.

It is the first time the right-arm fast bowler has been nominated for the monthly ICC award. He is shortlisted alongside Sri Lanka’s Sonal Dinusha and England’s Ollie Robinson.

Hasan played a key role in Bangladesh’s historic nine-wicket win over Australia in the Darwin Test in August. He took six wickets for 55 runs in the first innings and claimed another three for 56 in the second, finishing with nine wickets in the match.

His nine-wicket haul came at an average of 19.77 across the two-match Test series, which ended 1-1. However, Bangladesh’s victory in Darwin marked their first-ever Test win on Australian soil.

Hasan’s performance also boosted his position in the Test bowling rankings. He climbed 26 places in August to reach 38th.

Dinusha also enjoyed an impressive month, scoring 420 runs in Sri Lanka’s Test series against India. Robinson, meanwhile, took 16 wickets for England against Pakistan to earn his place on the shortlist.
