Travis Head’s blistering century and a disciplined bowling performance helped Australia beat Zimbabwe by 84 runs in the second ODI in Harare on Friday, securing the three-match series with a 2-0 lead.

Head smashed 112 off 84 balls, reaching his century in just 75 deliveries.

He shared a 130-run opening stand with captain Mitchell Marsh, who scored 63, while Cooper Connolly added 78 as Australia posted 356-6.

Zimbabwe struggled in the chase despite useful contributions from several batters and were bowled out for 272 in 48.3 overs.

Australia’s spinners played a key role in restricting the hosts. Matt Renshaw removed both Zimbabwean openers, while Adam Zampa took two wickets, including his 200th ODI wicket.

Connolly also claimed two wickets as Australia completed a comfortable victory.

The victory gives Australia an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, with the third and final ODI scheduled for Sunday.
