Towhid Hridoy’s aggressive 42 off 25 balls helped Bangladesh post 111 for 7 against Pakistan in the rain-shortened Asian Games semi-final in Nisshin, Japan, on Thursday.
The match was reduced to 13 overs per side after a lengthy delay caused by a wet outfield. Bangladesh struggled early, losing three wickets for 23 runs in the four-over powerplay.
Hridoy then steadied the innings and accelerated the scoring, putting together a 43-run partnership with Mosaddek Hossain.
Mosaddek contributed 15 before being dismissed, while Hridoy’s 25-ball knock proved crucial in taking Bangladesh past the 100-run mark.
Captain Litton Das had a disappointing outing, scoring just two runs from three balls before being bowled while attempting a reverse sweep.
Saif Hasan was another contributor, while most of Bangladesh’s batters failed to reach double figures.
Pakistan’s Sufyan Moqim was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 26 runs from his three overs. Pakistan also conceded 15 wides.
Bangladesh finished on 111/7, leaving Pakistan a target of 112 runs from 13 overs.
