India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the men’s cricket final at the 2026 Asian Games in Nisshin, Japan, on Saturday to retain their gold medal.

Batting first after winning the toss, India posted a commanding 211 for six in 20 overs.

Abhishek Sharma top-scored with 61 off 28 balls, while Tilak Varma smashed an unbeaten 51 off 22 deliveries.

Pakistan fought back strongly in the chase, with Hasan Nawaz scoring 96 off 51 balls.

However, India’s bowlers kept the required run rate under control and restricted Pakistan to 192 for six. Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube took two wickets each.

The victory gave India their second consecutive Asian Games men’s cricket gold and completed a cricket gold-medal double, following the women’s team’s triumph earlier in the Games.
