Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka scored twice each as England thrashed Croatia 7-0 in the UEFA Nations League in Rijeka on Saturday, giving Thomas Tuchel his biggest victory as England manager.
Jude Bellingham, Anthony Gordon and substitute Morgan Rogers also scored as England secured their second win in three Group A3 matches and strengthened their push for a place in next March’s Nations League quarterfinals.
England took the lead in the eighth minute when Kane finished from close range after Bellingham played a precise pass into his path.
Bellingham doubled the advantage in the 21st minute, converting after a 27-pass move. Gordon controlled a deflected cross and sent the ball back into the box for Bellingham to finish.
Gordon added the third in the 39th minute with a header from Jarrell Quansah’s cross. The goal was his fourth in his last four appearances for England.
Saka made it 4-0 shortly before halftime, calmly finishing after Bellingham set him up.
England continued to dominate after the break, with Kane scoring his second in the 53rd minute with a sliding finish from an Anderson cross.
Saka completed his brace in the 68th minute after capitalising on another defensive mistake by Croatia.
Rogers completed the rout in the 87th minute, rounding goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic before slotting the ball into an empty net.
Bellingham was at the heart of England’s performance, directly contributing to three of the seven goals in a commanding display in midfield.
The emphatic win leaves England in a strong position to reach the Nations League quarterfinals, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knockout stage.
