Pakistan have appointed Sahibzada Farhan as their new T20I captain, replacing Salman Ali Agha.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that Farhan will lead the national side in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

The matches will be played in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13.

Farhan, a right-handed opening batter, recently captained Pakistan at the Asian Games. He has now been entrusted with the T20I leadership as the PCB reshuffles its white-ball setup.

Salman Ali Agha has been left out of the T20I squad altogether, while Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue as Pakistan’s ODI captain for the subsequent tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s 15-member T20I squad includes Farhan, Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz, Khawaja Nafay, Maaz Sadaqat, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Muhammad Imran Randhawa, Naseem Shah, Razaullah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan and Sufiyan Moqim.

The leadership change comes as Pakistan prepare for their home T20I series against Sri Lanka before the seven-match ODI tri-series with Sri Lanka and England.
