Spain midfielder Alexia Putellas has won the 2026 Women’s Ballon d’Or for the third time, reclaiming the prestigious individual award after an outstanding season with Barcelona.

The 32-year-old received the award at a ceremony in London on Monday, October 26, after helping Barcelona win four trophies during the 2025–26 season, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Putellas previously won the award in 2021 and 2022. Her latest triumph ends Spain teammate Aitana Bonmatí’s three-year reign, with Bonmatí having won the honour in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Putellas captained Barcelona to a successful campaign before leaving the Spanish club in July to join English Women’s Super League side London City Lionesses.

With this victory, she equals Bonmatí’s record of three Women’s Ballon d’Or titles, further cementing her status as one of the leading players in women’s football.
