Robi Axiata PLC has honoured the top 10 teams in its ‘Privacy Avengers 2026’ competition, aimed at raising awareness of data privacy among young people and encouraging innovation in digital security.
The final round and award ceremony were held at Robi’s corporate office in Dhaka on Thursday. The top three teams were selected based on their performances in the final round, with a total prize money of Tk 5 lakh awarded to the winners.
The competition brought together university students from across the country to raise awareness about personal data protection and encourage them to develop innovative solutions to emerging privacy challenges.
Organised as part of Robi’s ongoing efforts to promote the safe use of personal information amid the rapid expansion of digital services, the competition provided a platform for young people to showcase their ideas and problem-solving skills.
Following evaluations at different stages, 20 teams were selected as ‘Privacy Defenders’, of which the top 10 advanced to the final round. The finalist teams were Cive Voders, Thought Police, AgentOne, Sed_People, CU_ET_E Encrypted Waves, Aezakmi, Team Saddu, Team Black Coffee, TheCypherGirls and Project Red Sky.
The teams presented innovative ideas addressing real-life challenges involving personal data protection, customer trust, business requirements and emerging technologies.
Thought Police emerged as the champion, while AgentOne secured the first runner-up position and Sed_People finished third.
Speaking at the event, Md Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, secretary of the Information and Communication Technology Division, said young people should go beyond being technology users and apply their knowledge and creativity to develop new solutions for digital security.
“We want young people to go beyond simply being users of technology and use their innovative thinking and knowledge to develop new solutions for digital security,” he said.
He added that harnessing the innovative potential of young people would help build a safe, responsible and trusted digital ecosystem in Bangladesh.
“Privacy Avengers 2026” is an effective initiative to help young people develop these capabilities, he said.
Brigadier General Shahzad Pervez Mohiuddin, director general (Systems and Services) of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), said initiatives like the competition were encouraging young people to develop innovative and effective solutions in data privacy and cybersecurity.
He expressed hope that joint efforts by the government, industry and young people would help create a safer, more reliable and trusted digital environment in the country.
Ziad Shatara, managing director and chief executive officer of Robi Axiata PLC, said protecting customers’ personal information was no longer merely a policy commitment but a fundamental pillar of digital trust and sustainable growth.
“As digital services continue to expand and their usage increases, the importance of managing information safely and responsibly is also growing,” he said.
Through its ‘Privacy First’ initiative and the ‘Privacy Avengers’ competition, Robi is encouraging young people to think innovatively and develop practical solutions in data privacy and cybersecurity, he added.
Shatara said developing a generation that was aware of, skilled in and responsible about data protection would help establish a safer, more inclusive and reliable digital ecosystem in Bangladesh.
Beyond the competition, Robi is conducting various awareness activities throughout the week under its ‘Privacy First’ initiative. The activities involve employees, business partners, customer service and call centre staff, suppliers and distributors.
These include discussions, quizzes and training sessions highlighting the importance of protecting personal information at different levels of the organisation.
Robi believes that safeguarding personal information is not merely a matter of legal compliance but a shared responsibility. The company said it was working to strengthen customer trust and build a safer digital environment by engaging young people and promoting the responsible use of personal data.
