The National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the existing ad hoc committee of the Bangladesh Women’s Sports Association and appointed a new one.

An official notification to this effect was issued on Saturday by the Office of the Executive Director of the NSC.

According to the notification, the previous ad hoc committee failed to carry out its responsibility of arranging elections and handing over charge to an elected committee in accordance with the association’s constitution.

Exercising its authority, the chairman of the National Sports Council dissolved the committee.

The NSC simultaneously constituted a new ad hoc committee for the association.

Barrister Sarwat Siraj (Shukla) has been appointed president, while Sharmin Akter Runa will serve as general secretary.

The vice-presidents are Dr Ismat Ara Haider, Ayesha Siddika Moni, Atiya Husna, Mirza Farzana Rahman Hosna and Advocate Runa Laila.

Sabrina Sultana and Syeda Taslima Akter have been named joint secretaries, while Shakti Rani Mondal has been appointed treasurer.

The committee also includes 12 other members, comprising national award-winning former athletes, sports organisers, teachers and representatives from various sporting disciplines.
