Bangladesh’s national women’s kabaddi team defeated Nepal 31-23 in the third match of the five-match series on Monday, taking a 2-1 lead with a commanding performance at the National Kabaddi Stadium in Paltan.
Bangladesh’s Khadija was named Player of the Match after playing a key role in the team’s eight-point victory.
The contest began with both sides displaying attacking intent, but Bangladesh gradually took control of the match. The hosts maintained their lead throughout the first half and inflicted the first all-out on Nepal in the 10th minute, opening up a comfortable 17-10 advantage.
Nepal, however, responded strongly after falling behind. A successful super raid earned the visitors three valuable points, helping them reduce the deficit. Bangladesh still held a 17-13 lead at the end of the first half.
After the break, Bangladesh continued to collect crucial points in an effort to widen the gap, while Nepal fought hard to stage a comeback. Despite the visitors’ persistence, the home side maintained its composure and sealed a convincing 31-23 victory.
The win gives Bangladesh a 2-1 advantage in the five-match series.
Bangladesh had won the opening match before Nepal bounced back to level the series with victory in the second encounter.
The fourth match of the series, which could prove decisive, will be played at the same venue at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.
