Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker BYD posted its third consecutive month of global sales growth in July, driven by surging demand in overseas markets. While sales in China’s domestic market showed signs of slowing, robust international demand more than offset the weakness.
According to Reuters calculations based on BYD’s official statement released on Saturday, the company sold 419,211 vehicles in July, marking a 21.8% increase from the same month a year earlier. The strong performance underscores BYD’s continued momentum in the global EV market.
The biggest driver of the company’s growth was its export business. Overseas shipments of passenger vehicles and pickup trucks more than doubled, soaring 124.3% year-on-year to a record 179,841 units in July.
The record export performance highlights BYD’s rapidly expanding global footprint as demand for its electric vehicles continues to grow across international markets. Despite facing challenges in China’s highly competitive domestic market, the company has successfully maintained its growth trajectory through aggressive overseas expansion, further strengthening its position as one of the world’s leading EV manufacturers.
