Meta has launched a new subscription service called Meta One as it seeks to monetise its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features and create new revenue streams across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The service will offer users, content creators and businesses access to enhanced AI tools and other premium features.
For individual users, Meta is introducing two plans: Core, priced at $7.99 a month, and Premium, at $19.99 a month. Both plans include premium features across Meta’s social platforms, along with expanded access to its Muse Image and Muse Video tools for creating images and videos.
Subscribers will also get access to AI-powered creative tools, including a “Restyle” editing feature for Instagram Stories and voice effects.
Meta is also offering four subscription tiers for businesses and larger content creators. The plans are Essential, starting at $14.99 a month; Advanced, from $49.99; Expert, at $149; and Max, at $499 a month.
Business-focused features include expanded access to Meta Business Agent for automating customer service, verified badges on WhatsApp Business, fake-profile detection, post scheduling up to 30 days in advance and detailed audience analytics.
The new offering follows Meta’s increased investment in AI, including a major investment in Scale AI last year and the launch of its Muse AI model. The company is seeking to make its AI capabilities more widely available to consumers, creators and businesses.
Meta’s earlier subscription offerings, launched in March, have already contributed to higher revenue, according to the information cited in the report. As of September 9, Instagram’s average daily revenue had risen 475 per cent to $1.2 million globally, while Facebook’s revenue increased 143 per cent to $528,000.
Financial research firm Truist estimates that Meta’s combined subscription initiatives could generate up to an additional $20 billion in annual revenue by 2030, highlighting the company’s growing focus on subscription-based income alongside advertising.
