After spending five years developing smart glasses in partnership with premium eyewear brands such as Ray-Ban and Oakley, tech giant Meta has unveiled its first smart glasses under its own brand. Dropping the external designer branding, the new product line has simply been named Meta Glass.

By eliminating the premium fashion label, Meta has been able to reduce the price of its smart glasses. The new lineup starts at US$299, making it around US$80 cheaper than comparable Ray-Ban smart glasses. While Meta has retained the same core technology and feature set, the new models may feel somewhat less premium in terms of design, materials, and overall finish.

The Meta Glass lineup is available in three primary frame styles—Adventurer, Starfire, and Fury—alongside multiple colour and lens options. Instead of the Ray-Ban branding, the glasses now feature Meta’s signature Infinity (∞) logo on the frame and lenses.

From a hardware perspective, the glasses closely resemble the second-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. They include a 12-megapixel camera, noise-cancelling microphones, and a customisable action button. A new Dynamic Capture mode has also been introduced, allowing the glasses to capture multiple frames simultaneously and automatically select the best image.

The AI features are powered by Meta’s latest Muse Spark model. However, users who wish to use the Conversation Focus feature—which enhances speech clarity in noisy environments—for more than three hours per month will need to subscribe to the Meta One premium plan.

To address growing privacy concerns, Meta is also enforcing a mandatory software update that prevents users from tampering with the notification LED. If the system detects any attempt to disable or manipulate the recording indicator, the camera will automatically shut down.

Overall, Meta Glass offers a more affordable entry into the smart glasses market without sacrificing key functionality. However, compared with the Ray-Ban editions, the new models fall slightly short in terms of premium styling and build quality.
