Kuakata, one of Bangladesh’s popular coastal tourist destinations, has been bustling with visitors during the third day of the Durga Puja holidays and ahead of a tourism carnival scheduled for October 23 and 24.

Tourists have flocked to various attractions, including the confluence of three rivers, Lembu Forest, the dry-fish village, casuarina groves, Gangamati and Lal Kakrar Char.

At the beach’s zero point, visitors have been enjoying swimming and other recreational activities. Some are relaxing on benches while taking in the natural scenery, while others are strolling along the shoreline hand in hand with their loved ones.

The surge in visitors has also boosted the local tourism business, with all rooms in more than 300 hotels and motels in Kuakata reportedly booked. Businesses have welcomed the increased sales following a period of uncertainty.

Nazmul Hasan, inspector of Kuakata Tourist Police, said a large number of district police, local police, river police and tourist police personnel had been deployed to ensure visitors’ safety.

Tourism-related authorities expect around 300,000 tourists to visit Kuakata during the two-day carnival on October 23 and 24.
