In a landmark achievement for the nation’s manufacturing sector, Bangladesh Honda Private Limited (BHL) has announced the export of its locally assembled ‘Honda NX200’ motorcycles to the North American nation of Mexico.
BHL is a joint venture between the Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC), under the Ministry of Industries, and Japan’s Honda Motor Company Limited. BHL initiated its international journey in 2024 by exporting the ‘Honda X-Blade’ model to the Central American nation of Guatemala. Expanding its global footprint, the shipment of ‘Honda NX200’ to Mexico highlights Bangladesh’s rising profile as a reliable manufacturing hub.
The export operations were inaugurated with a grand ceremony on Thursday, July 31, at BHL’s modern motorcycle factory located in the Abdul Monem Economic Zone in Gazaria, Munshiganj. This announcement was made in a press release sent to the media on August 1.
Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (Secretary Rank), attended the event as the chief guest and remarked, “The export of Honda NX200 to Mexico reflects our growing capability in export diversification, employment generation, and global recognition. The government remains dedicated to fostering a sustainable business environment.”
Susumu Morisawa, Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Honda Private Limited, stated, “We are proud to expand our export footprint to Mexico following our successful venture in Guatemala. This milestone reinforces Honda’s commitment to driving economic growth, boosting local sourcing, and continuously enhancing manufacturing competitiveness in Bangladesh.”
Shah Muhammad Ashequr Rahman, Chief Marketing Officer of BHL, noted that while the domestic market remains the company’s core focus, entering high-potential international markets positions Bangladesh as a competitive exporter of high-tech automotive engineering.
The celebration was attended by Umme Hafsa Nadia, Uno of Gajaria, Munshiganj, along with representatives from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), customs authorities, supply chain partners, and senior corporate executives.
