The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) has launched the first issue of its quarterly journal, titled “Unlocking Export Diversification Through Halal Product”, highlighting the potential of halal products to diversify Bangladesh’s export basket.
The journal was unveiled at a programme held at the Crystal Hall of Gulshan Club on Saturday morning, with BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez) in the chair.
The event brought together presidents of different chambers and associations, senior government officials, former BCI presidents, members of the chamber’s board of directors, economists, researchers, trade experts and representatives of print and electronic media.
In his opening remarks, Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury underscored the importance of the manufacturing sector and called for collective efforts to strengthen the country’s industrial base. He also explained why halal products had been given prominence in the inaugural issue of the journal.
He said Bangladesh could increase halal product manufacturing by reorganising existing production systems without making additional investments. However, obtaining halal certification and securing the necessary recognition would be essential to realising the sector’s potential.
BCI Editorial Adviser Shirajul Islam Kadir outlined the journal’s content and key themes.
The BCI president and invited guests formally unveiled the first issue, after which copies were distributed among participants.
