The 31st Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) is likely to begin on January 1, 2027, as the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on Tuesday approved a tentative schedule for the country’s largest annual trade exposition.
The decision was taken at the 149th meeting of the EPB Board of Directors, chaired by Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir at the bureau’s conference room in Dhaka.
The board also approved the formation of a steering committee to oversee preparations for DITF 2027, paving the way for the organisation of one of Bangladesh’s flagship trade events.
In another significant decision, the board gave its in-principle approval to lease out the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal, the permanent venue of the annual fair. Officials said the move is expected to ensure better utilisation of the modern exhibition complex throughout the year while generating additional revenue.
The Dhaka International Trade Fair serves as Bangladesh’s premier platform for showcasing local products, promoting exports and creating business linkages between domestic and international companies. Each year, hundreds of local and foreign exhibitors participate in the month-long event, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The board also approved the Export Promotion Bureau’s international trade fair calendar for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Under the approved programme, Bangladesh will participate in 50 international trade fairs and exhibitions across 27 countries, focusing on 12 priority export sectors as part of the government’s strategy to diversify export markets and expand the country’s global trade presence.
The overseas exhibitions are expected to help Bangladeshi exporters promote products, explore new markets, strengthen business networks and attract foreign buyers, particularly in emerging export destinations.
Officials said the trade fair calendar has been designed to support the country’s export diversification efforts beyond traditional products by providing greater international exposure to priority sectors.
Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan, EPB Vice Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif, Additional Secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce Ayesha Akther and other members of the EPB Board attended the meeting.
The Dhaka International Trade Fair is jointly organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau and is regarded as the country’s largest annual trade promotion event, bringing together manufacturers, exporters, importers and consumers under one roof while showcasing Bangladesh’s industrial and export potential.
