Private carrier US-Bangla Airlines on Friday completed 12 years of operations, entering its 13th year with a fleet of 25 aircraft, services to 20 domestic and international destinations and an ambitious expansion plan targeting Europe and North America.

The airline began operations on July 17, 2014, with flights on the Dhaka-Jashore route using a Dash 8-Q400 aircraft. Over the past 12 years, it has grown into one of Bangladesh’s leading private airlines, according to a company statement.

Marking the anniversary, US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun said the airline remained committed to modernising its fleet to provide better services to passengers.

“There is no alternative to modern aircraft in ensuring quality passenger service. US-Bangla is continuously adding new aircraft to its fleet to offer greater comfort and efficiency,” he said.

Expressing confidence in the airline’s future, he added, “In a competitive world, we are ready to take on any kind of competitive challenge.”

As part of its expansion strategy, the airline plans to induct additional Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in the near future.

US-Bangla also announced plans to launch flights by 2027 to Dammam, Madinah, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Colombo, Johor Bahru, Penang and Hong Kong. It aims to start services to London and Rome by 2028 before extending its network to New York, Toronto and Sydney by 2030.

The airline currently operates a fleet comprising three Airbus A330-300s and nine Boeing 737-800s, alongside other aircraft, and said it has maintained an on-time performance rate of more than 90 percent since its inception.

Domestically, US-Bangla operates flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur and Rajshahi.

It launched international operations on May 15, 2016, with flights between Dhaka and Kathmandu. Its overseas network now includes Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Guangzhou.

The airline recently received the Best Domestic Airline Award 2025, having previously won the honour in 2015, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

US-Bangla said it was the first private Bangladeshi airline established after independence to operate direct flights to destinations in China, Chennai in India and Male in the Maldives.

The airline employs around 4,000 people in Bangladesh and overseas and operates more than 40 sales offices at home and abroad.
