Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh on Monday morning.

Two people died when a truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, while a pedestrian was killed after being run over by an unidentified vehicle.

The accidents occurred at Thakurbari intersection on Balipara Road, said SI Rezaul Karim of Trishal Police Station.

Among the deceased are one man and two women. One of the women was identified as Maria Begum, 25. Police could not immediately identify the other two victims.

The injured were taken to Trishal Upazila Health Complex and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment, police said.

According to SI Rezaul, the auto-rickshaw was travelling towards Trishal while the truck was heading in the opposite direction towards Nandail.

“The two vehicles collided head-on at Thakurbari intersection, killing two people on the spot,” he said.

Police have informed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to identify the victims. A PBI fingerprint team is expected to visit the scene, and further details will be available once their identities are confirmed.

In a separate incident, Maria Begum was walking along the road when an unidentified vehicle ran her over. Her body was taken to the morgue of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the police officer said.
