Dhaka and neighbouring areas were hit by torrential rain accompanied by thunderstorms early Sunday, September 20, amid forecasts of rain or thundershowers in the capital.
Strong winds began sweeping through several parts of the capital around 4:15am, followed by rain.
Thunder was heard intermittently, while heavy rain intensified from around 7:15am, according to Kalbela.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department had forecast rain or thundershowers in Dhaka and adjoining areas during the early hours of Sunday, with southerly or south-easterly winds reaching 8–12 kmph.
The weather agency said the tendency for rainfall could increase over the next few days.
