Temperatures likely to drop, rain forecast

DHAKA: Day and night temperatures may fall slightly across Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, while rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in all divisions, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast.

The forecast was issued on Friday for the 24 hours beginning at 9am.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, may occur at some places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Moderately heavy rainfall may also occur at some places across the country. Day and night temperatures are likely to decrease slightly nationwide.

The Meteorological Department said the monsoon remains moderately active over southern and eastern Bangladesh and weak over the North Bay of Bengal.

The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from western Bangladesh and may retreat from the rest of the country within the next 24 hours.
