US President Donald Trump has said Washington will continue its military campaign against Iran for at least another four weeks, vowing that the United States would intensify pressure until Tehran agrees to its demands.
Speaking to reporters during a cabinet meeting, Trump said the US would strike Iran “very hard,” adding that the Iranian leadership could eventually reach a point where it would no longer be able to endure the pressure.
“At some point, they’re going to say, ‘We can’t take this anymore,’” Trump said.
Trump’s remarks came amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran following the resumption of US military action against Iran earlier this month. The US campaign has been linked to efforts to pressure Iran over regional security and other strategic issues.
Meanwhile, Trump announced on Thursday that his Board of Peace had reached what he described as a “historic” agreement on the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the agreement represented a major step toward establishing lasting peace and security in the Palestinian territory.
The proposed arrangement is expected to include a phased disarmament process, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of an International Stabilization Force and the transfer of administrative and security responsibilities to a new Palestinian governing structure.
Senior officials associated with the Board of Peace said the breakthrough followed months of sensitive negotiations aimed at addressing concerns raised by Hamas and other stakeholders.
They said steps to implement the agreement could begin in the coming weeks.
The officials also said discussions had been held with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan reportedly seeks to prevent direct funding from reaching Hamas while establishing an effective administrative framework for Gaza.
Efforts are also underway to secure funding and recruit personnel for an international stabilisation force, while local Palestinian personnel are expected to receive training to assume responsibilities previously held by Hamas.
However, no immediate official response was available from Hamas or Iran regarding the reported developments.
The agreement’s implementation and the sequencing of Hamas’s disarmament and Israel’s withdrawal remain key issues, with the situation continuing to evolve.
