Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has said that if he returns to power, he will officially designate Qatar as an “enemy state,” claiming that it now poses a greater threat to Israel than Iran.
In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 television, Bennett said that failing to declare Qatar an enemy state until now was an “unforgivable mistake.”
“Iran openly says it wants to destroy Israel,” Bennett said. “But Qatar financed the Nukhba terrorists who carried out the October 7, 2023 attack. In addition, Al Jazeera, which operates from Qatar, is the media outlet that spreads the most toxic propaganda against us.”
Bennett also alleged that Qatar is expanding its influence in universities across the United States.
He further claimed that Qatar’s influence has reached Israel’s most sensitive security institutions, including the Prime Minister’s Office.
“Qatar is working against us and weakening us from within,” Bennett said.
