Mossad Director Roman Gofman has removed two senior officials from their posts over a plan to bring about regime change in Iran that was never implemented as intended, Israeli media reported.
According to N12, the officials are the head of Mossad’s Intelligence Directorate, who took up the position in December, and the head of the agency’s Iran division.
Their names were not disclosed.
The reported shake-up comes amid growing scrutiny of Israel’s efforts to influence political developments inside Iran following its military campaign against the country.
The officials were reportedly involved in planning efforts aimed at replacing Iran’s current regime, but the plan failed to achieve its intended outcome.
The move marks another significant leadership shake-up within Mossad as the agency reassesses its Iran-related operations and intelligence strategy.
