US forces carried out overnight air and missile strikes on multiple cities and five bridges in southern and southeastern Iran for a sixth consecutive night, killing at least eight people and injuring several others, according to Iranian state media and Anadolu Agency.

The strikes late Thursday targeted Bandar Abbas, Bandar Khamir, Qeshm Island, Sirik and Iranshahr, among other locations.

Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported that one person was killed and eight others injured in a strike on a residential area in Bandar Abbas.

Separate attacks on two bridges near Bandar Khamir in Hormozgan Province killed at least seven people and wounded nine others.

IRIB also confirmed four explosions along the southern coast of Qeshm Island, while the semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported powerful blasts in Sirik.

According to Tasnim, one of the damaged structures was the strategic Bandar Abbas-Shiraz bridge, with power cut off in the surrounding area after the attack.

Local media also reported explosions west of Bandar Abbas, in the southern city of Bushehr, near Iranshahr Airport, and around Ahvaz in Khuzestan Province.

Later, Fars News Agency said a total of five bridges, including the Gariveh and Kahourestan bridges—key routes for military logistics and domestic transport—had been damaged.

Iran’s military said it had retaliated by targeting US forces and logistics facilities in Kuwait.

In a separate statement issued early Friday, the Iranian army claimed it had also launched a surprise attack on a US special forces command centre at Al-Tanf in Syria, destroying a radar system and several special operations helicopters. It also claimed that a large number of US troops were killed, though the claim has not been independently verified.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday it had successfully carried out another round of offensive operations against Iranian military targets, marking the sixth consecutive night of US strikes.

Tensions between the two countries have escalated again in recent days over the Strait of Hormuz, despite a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding signed last month aimed at easing hostilities.

The renewed violence has effectively ended that fragile truce.
