The United States has launched new strikes on Iran following the deaths of two American service members in an Iranian attack in Jordan, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.
US President Donald Trump described the deaths as “a very sad thing” and reiterated that the United States would not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei dismissed Trump’s position as “worthless and invalid” and accused Washington of repeatedly violating a memorandum of understanding signed last month.
The latest escalation has also spread across the region. Kuwait’s state-owned oil company said one of its main facilities was hit in an Iranian strike, while Iraqi media reported that the US consulate in Erbil activated air defences amid drone attacks.
The developments mark a sharp escalation in the conflict, with the United States and Iran trading attacks and threats across the region.
