Jhenaidah: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted an alleged attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) to push six people into Bangladesh through the Samanta border in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district.
According to BGB, the incident occurred at dawn on Saturday , when BSF personnel allegedly tried to force six individuals—two women and four men— across the border through the Samanta frontier in Kajirber Union.
The information was confirmed in a press release by Munshi Imdadur Rahman, Assistant Director of BGB-58.
He said members of the 59 BSF Singamore Camp attempted to push the six individuals into Bangladesh through a gate near Border Pillar 55/MP. Before they could enter Bangladeshi territory, patrolling members of the Samanta Border Outpost (BOP) detected the movement and prevented the entry.
The six individuals are currently reported to be staying approximately 30 yards inside Indian territory from the zero line. BGB has informed the BSF about the incident, the official added.
