A fire broke out at Bliss Hospital in Satkhira, leaving several people injured and causing panic among patients and their families.

The incident occurred around 1:13pm on Tuesday (August 4) at the hospital located at Chourangi Mor on the Satkhira–Khulna highway. Upon receiving the news, members of the Satkhira Fire Service rushed to the scene and began efforts to bring the fire under control.

According to fire service officials, four firefighting units were deployed to contain the blaze. Although the fire has been largely brought under control, thick smoke continues to fill the hospital premises. Rescue operations and efforts to restore normal conditions are ongoing.

Several patients—including women, children, and elderly individuals—as well as attendants were reported injured in the incident. The injured individuals are being transported to Satkhira Sadar Hospital and Satkhira Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The fire also caused a complete disruption of traffic on the busy Satkhira–Khulna highway, with a long queue of ambulances seen at the scene assisting in the evacuation of the injured.

Police, led by Officer-in-Charge Masudur Rahman of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, along with traffic personnel, are working to manage the situation and ease congestion in the area.

Authorities said the cause of the fire and the extent of damage could not be immediately determined. A detailed assessment will be provided once the firefighting operation is fully completed.
