U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested approximately 51,000 immigrants in July, marking the highest monthly total in the agency’s history as the Trump administration intensifies its immigration crackdown.
According to U.S. federal sources, ICE made an average of about 1,645 immigration arrests per day during July.
The figure surpassed the previous monthly record of roughly 43,000 arrests in June.
The record comes amid a broader push by the administration to increase immigration enforcement and deportations across the United States.
ICE has stepped up operations in several cities, including large-scale raids targeting undocumented immigrants.
In one recent operation in the Atlanta area, ICE arrested more than 1,200 people, including hundreds whom officials said had criminal records.
The sharp rise in arrests has also intensified debate over the administration’s immigration policies.
Supporters say the crackdown is necessary to remove undocumented immigrants and improve public safety, while critics argue that the expanded enforcement is sweeping up people without serious criminal records and placing additional pressure on the immigration detention system.
