Dhaka: Two more people have died from dengue across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 672 new patients have been hospitalized with the viral disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in a dengue-related press release issued on Sunday.
According to the DGHS, among the new patients, 84 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal Division, 88 in Chattogram Division, 66 in Dhaka Division outside the city corporations, 110 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 91 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 140 in Khulna Division, 27 in Mymensingh Division, 57 in Rajshahi Division, five in Rangpur Division, and four in Sylhet Division.
The DGHS said a total of 19,345 people have been infected with dengue in Bangladesh so far this year. Of them, 61.5 percent are male and 38.5 percent are female.
So far, 17,000 dengue patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. With the latest two deaths, the number of dengue-related fatalities in Bangladesh this year has risen to 61.
