Arafat Rahman Koko, the younger son of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, was born on August 12, 1969. Today marks his 57th birth anniversary.
Koko was a noted sports organiser and served as a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s advisory council from 2003 to 2005.
He also served as chairman of Old DOHS Club.
He played a significant role in the development of Bangladesh cricket, particularly in nurturing young talent and improving cricket infrastructure.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is observing his birth anniversary with programmes highlighting his contributions to the sport.
Koko died of cardiac arrest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on January 24, 2015, at the age of 45. His body was later brought back to Bangladesh and he was buried at Banani Graveyard in Dhaka.
His 57th birth anniversary is being observed with prayers and other programmes by his family members, BNP leaders and supporters.
