Four people were killed and three others injured after an oil tanker collided head-on with an autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Sylhet’s Osmaninagar on Saturday.

The crash occurred in the Brahmangram area in the afternoon, according to Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station.

Police said the Padma Oil Company tanker was travelling from Sylhet towards Dhaka when it collided with the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction.

The impact left the autorickshaw mangled and injured all seven people involved in the crash.

They were taken to Osmaninagar Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared four of them dead.

Three of those killed were passengers of the autorickshaw, police said.

The identities of the dead and injured could not immediately be confirmed.

The crash came just over two weeks after nine people were killed when buses operated by Unique Paribahan and Bengal Paribahan collided in Osmaninagar on August 7.
