Five more children have died with suspected measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,232 children were reported with measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported the figures in its latest measles update on Monday (24 August).
No deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were recorded during the period. Since 15 March, however, 839 children have died with suspected measles symptoms and another 99 from confirmed measles, bringing the combined death toll to 938.
In the past 24 hours, 83 children tested positive for measles, while another 1,149 were reported with suspected symptoms. A total of 1,055 children were admitted to hospitals, while 946 were discharged.
Since 15 March, Bangladesh has recorded 150,652 suspected measles cases, including 18,487 laboratory-confirmed infections.
During the same period, 131,664 patients have been hospitalised, with 126,921 subsequently discharged after treatment.
