Greek coastguards rescued 79 migrants, including Bangladeshi nationals, from two boats near the southern coast of Crete on Tuesday, according to authorities.
An EU drone detected the two boats near Kali Limenes, prompting a coastguard rescue operation.
The rescued migrants included at least two women and two minors, as well as nationals of Bangladesh and war-torn Sudan.
The latest rescue comes amid a recent surge in migrant arrivals along the southern Greek islands, particularly Crete and nearby Gavdos, with many boats reportedly departing from Libya.
