Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has warned of strict organisational action against anyone involved in extortion or land grabbing while using the party’s name.
Speaking at a press conference at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, on Wednesday (August 26), Rizvi said the party has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards such activities.
“If anyone uses the party’s name to engage in extortion or land grabbing and an investigation proves the allegations, immediate and strict organisational action will be taken,” he said in response to journalists’ questions.
Rizvi said the BNP has consistently demonstrated its commitment to standing with the people and fulfilling its pledges.
He claimed that the government is implementing its pre-election commitments with sincerity. He cited initiatives including planting 250 million trees, excavating canals, tackling climate change and expanding renewable energy efforts.
Rejecting opposition allegations that the government had failed during its first 180 days in office, Rizvi dismissed the criticism as a sweeping claim.
He said various international and economic institutions have been analysing government data and publishing positive assessments, adding that the country is being advanced through scientific and data-driven policymaking.
Asked about the BNP’s next national council, Rizvi said the matter is currently under discussion within the party’s policymaking forums. However, no specific date or month has yet been finalised.
He said the party would formally announce the schedule once a final decision is reached.
Several BNP leaders and activists from the party’s central, affiliated and associate organisations were present at the press conference.
