The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has approved the filing of a charge sheet against Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, over allegations of providing false information in her CV to secure the post of regional director for the World Health Organization’s (WHO) South-East Asia region.

ACC Secretary Saidur Rahman Khan confirmed the development at a briefing on Sunday.

According to the ACC investigation, Putul claimed in her CV that she had worked as an honorary specialist or expert at Bangladesh Medical University, formerly known as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. However, investigators found no official records supporting the claim.

The ACC alleged that she used the information to secure the international position through abuse of power.

Investigators also claimed that pressure was exerted to forward her CV to WHO headquarters in Geneva without proper verification through official procedures.

The commission has approved the charge sheet on allegations of fraud, forgery and criminal breach of trust. The case was filed on March 20, 2025.

Putul, who resigned as WHO regional director on September 9, 2026, has denied allegations of wrongdoing.
