Barron Trump, the 20-year-old son of US President Donald Trump, is reportedly living a largely secluded life due to security concerns. His father has survived three assassination attempts over the past two years, and Barron himself has recently received threats. Since then, he has been avoiding public appearances and staying out of the spotlight, according to the New York Post.
Barron, the youngest child of Donald Trump, is currently a sophomore at New York University. According to the report, he spent most of this summer with his mother, First Lady Melania Trump, at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.
A source close to the Trump family told the New York Post that Barron “doesn’t go out,” while another source described him as highly reclusive.
According to the sources, Barron does not like appearing in public. When he is spotted somewhere, he reportedly quickly moves to a private, secure location. One source said he is rarely seen going out or socializing.
The New York Post also reported that Barron had developed a close relationship with conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The report claimed that Kirk’s assassination deeply affected Barron. Barron reportedly called his father to inform him of Kirk’s death and told Trump, “When you go outside, this is what happens.”
Melania Trump’s office has reportedly asked that no details about Barron’s private life be disclosed. The office said that, in light of recent threats, information concerning his personal life should be kept out of all reports. The report also said Melania is extremely cautious about her son’s safety and respects his decision to maintain his privacy.
When Donald Trump’s first term ended, Barron had reached an age at which Secret Service protection was expected to be withdrawn. At the time, Melania’s office contacted the White House and asked then-President Joe Biden to extend Barron’s security protection. The Biden administration approved the request.
In footage from a documentary about Melania, she can be seen telling Secret Service officers in January 2025, “I know Barron is not going to go out. And I respect that.”
At the time, plans were being made for the First Family to walk along Pennsylvania Avenue as part of Trump’s inauguration. However, the plan was later changed and the ceremony was moved indoors because of extremely cold weather.
Meanwhile, the report noted that unusual threats targeting members of Donald Trump’s family were broadcast on Iranian state television earlier this week. A video reportedly published by media outlets close to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and aired on Iran’s state-run Channel 3 discussed how Barron Trump could be tracked down.
The report claimed that the video highlighted Barron’s movements and announced a $10 million reward for his assassination.
