PM gives jobs to 74 of affected families

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has handed over job appointment letters to 74 members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings, as well as families of those killed or injured during the July uprising.

The appointment letters were handed over at a ceremony held at the Karabi Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon on Saturday afternoon. The prime minister personally handed appointment letters to 10 of the recipients.

Atikur Rahman Rumon, additional press secretary to the prime minister, said 74 members of families affected by enforced disappearances and killings, and families of those killed or injured in the July uprising, received job appointment letters on Saturday. Of them, 10 received their letters directly from the prime minister.

Among the recipients were Ishfaq Ahmed, brother of Iftikhar Ahmed Dinar, who was subjected to enforced disappearance; Moniruzzaman Hira, brother of Nuruzzaman Jony; Anan Hossain Noor, brother of Anwar Hossain Mahbub; Hasnain Reza, brother of Selim Reza Pintu; and Shammi Sultana, wife of Khaled Hossain Sohel.

Others who received appointment letters included Alal Ahmed, an injured fighter who lost his eyesight during the July uprising; Md Abul Hossain, father of martyr Alvi; Zartaj Parveen, mother of martyr Ahnaf; injured fighter Kazi Saimum Siraj; and Mahbub Alam, brother of Israfil Islam.

Several of the newly appointed individuals expressed gratitude to the prime minister. At the same time, they demanded that those responsible for enforced disappearances and killings be brought to justice.

The programme was moderated by Atikur Rahman Rumon, convener of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ and additional press secretary to the prime minister.

Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony, Hasan Shiplu, Sujauddaula, Shahadat Swadhin, Assistant Press Secretary AKM Nazmul Haque, Shahriar Pamir, and Moksedul Momin Mithun, a member of ‘BNP Amar Paribar’, were among those present at the event.
