Seat-trim covers manufactured in Bangladesh are being exported to Japan for use in vehicles made by major Japanese brands including Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki.
TS Tech Bangladesh Ltd, a Japanese-owned factory at Adamjee Export Processing Zone in Narayanganj, began operations in 2017.
The company has invested $4.67 million in Bangladesh, employs 375 workers and exported products worth $14.75 million in the last fiscal year.
The factory produces about 206,000 seat-trim covers a year. Workers cut leather and other materials, sew components and prepare the covers to precise specifications.
Most raw materials are sourced from Japan and China, while the finished covers are shipped to TS Tech facilities in Japan, where complete seats are assembled before being supplied to vehicle manufacturers.
Managing Director Satoru Onishi said the company is focusing on higher productivity and automation, including conveyor systems, auto-lay machines and 3D printing for production-support tools.
The factory also provides employee-friendly facilities, including an in-house daycare centre opened in 2025 and additional support for pregnant workers. About 60% of its workforce are women.
